One Corona, Two Corona

Adam and I were both down for the count with Covid-19 with long hours of couch time in between naps and doses of Tylenol when we realized that if we didn’t plant this season’s 200 baby trees soon, they would all surely die.

On the first day of planting, we bundled up, despite the 60 degree overcast day, strapped on our boots and went to planting. The hills seemed steeper than usual and we both took frequent breaks to lay on the damp ground until the dizziness subsided. Adam definitely had the harder job of digging out the holes in the clay with the drill and auger, but my knees, back and hands definitely ached as I tucked the roots into the holes and stamped the dirt to fill the holes. It took us the better part of the day, but we managed to plant the first fifty prickly Douglas fir trees.

Over the next two days, Adam devised and implemented a plan to utilize the tractor for the holes, despite not having the exact right attachment, and it worked like a charm. I am happy to say that we survived and hopefully our little trees will too. We planted row after row, soaked up a little vitamin D, and only had a few minor arguments.
